Chow Mugger

Detailed Defination of a Chow Mugger:

A Chow Mugger is defined as one who doesn't believe in anything else other than studying. He lives to study, piah tutorials, and watch webcasts. The Chow Mugger doesn't believe in bathing, taking showers, or brushing his teeth as it is a waste of time to him. The time can be better spent on reading an extra page of textbook instead. Studying is the first thing he does in the morning and the last thing he does at night. He doesn't change his clothes daily, and he has bad breath. That's why he's so smelly, thus came the prefix "Chow" which means "smelly" in Chinese.

The Chow Mugger doesn't believe in eating, cause it is simply a tragic waste of precious time. The time spent to finish a plate of Chicken Rice can be better spent on memorizing an extra set of equations. However, the Chow Mugger is still a human, and he runs on energy. Therefore, he consumes his meals from a mug. A mug of Milo for breakfast, a mug of instant cereal for Lunch, a mug of Instant Soup Mix for dinner, and maybe some mugs of warm milk for supper. And hence comes the postfix "Mugger", since the mug is the only thing he ever holds other than his stationeries. To avoid wasting time, he doesn't wash his mug after every use. The remnants of what he consumed last week are still dotted all over his mug, and it stinks of the contents which it used to hold.

Therefore, we have the full term "Chow Mugger"

Are you a Chow Mugger?

Cookbooks by Engineers

Recipe for Chocolate Chip Cookies:

Ingredients:
1. 532.35 cm3 gluten
2. 4.9 cm3 NaHCO3
3. 4.9 cm3 refined halite
4. 236.6 cm3 partially hydrogenated tallow triglyceride
5. 177.45 cm3 crystalline C12H22O11
6. 177.45 cm3 unrefined C12H22O11
7. 4.9 cm3 methyl ether of protocatechuic aldehyde
8. Two calcium carbonate-encapsulated avian albumen-coated protein
9. 473.2 cm3 theobroma cacao
10. 236.6 cm3 de-encapsulated legume meats (sieve size #10)

Directions:
1: To a 2-L jacketed round reactor vessel (reactor #1) with an overall heat transfer coefficient of about 100 Btu/F-ft2-hr, add ingredients one, two and three with constant agitation.

2: In a second 2-L reactor vessel with a radial flow impeller operating at 100 rpm, add ingredients four, five, six, and seven until the mixture is homogenous.

3: To reactor #2, add ingredient eight, followed by three equal volumes of the homogenous mixture in reactor #1.

4: Additionally, add ingredients nine and ten slowly, with constant agitation. Care must be taken at this point in the reaction to control any temperature rise that may be the result of an exothermic reaction.

5: Using a screw extrude attached to a #4 nodulizer, place the mixture piece-meal on a 316SS sheet (300 x 600 mm).

6: Heat in a 460K oven for a period of time that is in agreement with Frank & Johnston's first order rate expression (see JACOS, 21, 55), or until golden brown. Once the reaction is complete, place the sheet on a 25C heat-transfer table, allowing the product to come to equilibrium.

NUSSU PRU

I had attended the Annual NUSSU Appreciation Dinner yesterday
at the Kent Ridge Guild House. Initially, the main reason for my attendance was
due to the free food. However, as i sat through the prize award presentations
and the multiple video shows, i was stuck with mixed emotions of sadness and
pride...
Sadness, from the fact that I've reached the point where I'm going to slowly back away from the direct-affairs of the organisation which I love so much.

And Pride, from seeing the awards received by our capable comrades for their remarkable efforts, and seeing the achievements of our organization listed down and recognised ... finally even winning the Most-Improved Standing Committee Award.

Thank you all, for the glorious history we've shared as we
strived for our common cause.

Thank you all, for the tears, sweat and blood we've shed along
the way.

Thank you all, for becoming the wings of our
organisation.

Thank you all, seniors and juniors, for everything.

Thank You, Public Relations Unit

Glorious Food

Indeed i haven't been updating my bloggie lately ... hehehe, partly due to my work and partly coz of the reason i put up in the tagboard, which is kinda lame. I wonder if anyone buys it. Anyways, a while ago i opened up my picture folder and realised many photos i've taken lately are all about food. So .... I'll make this post a photo-intensive one which revolves around the 4-letter F word.

the glorious F word, even more glorious than the other F word (the one which is 1/4 of a fish and 3/4 of a duck )

yeah baby ... I'm talking about FOOD!!!
Damn ya all greedy Singaporeans, this one's for ya!

*********
During my sister's 21st birthday a few days back, my aunt took us to a nice restaurant for a session of fine-dining under the moonlight. It's at Rochester Park along North Buono Vista Road, at a place called the da Paolo Bistro Bar.

The ambience there is wonderful ... and the setting, simply to die for.
It's one of those nice residence-turn-restaurant kind of place. The tables are set across the porch of the bungalow, and everyone dines under the stars. The area is sheltered from the side by trees and flora, and soft music plays in the background. The lightning is intentionally dimmed with a candle on every table. The mood generated is simply enchanting.

Check Out the Setting!

It's a french restaurant, and I couldn't pronounce any food item from the menu. I ordered Onion Soup for appetizer, and half-grilled sashimi with mexican corn rice for my main course.

Creamy Onion Soup topped with a biscuit

Half-grilled Sashimi smothered with tomatoes, served with Corn Rice

It taste great ... damn. The only thing lacking will be some good wine to go with the food. I'll definately come back here again. Besides food, it's a great place to catch up with friends/gfs/bfs over some good wine as well.

The roman setting there is rather unique, with couch-beds (wadever you call them), an outdoor bar etc ... Irresistable!

*********
During the weekends, somehow we ran out of food in the house, and noone wants to eat re-heated donuts from the fridge. So ... we ordered Pizza! Oishi Pizza that is, highly reccommended by many of my friends and even Mr.Brown himself (www.mrbrownshow.com). It's 1-for-1, so we got a wasabe seafood pizza and a teriyaki chicken pizza.

Teriyaki Chicken Pizza

Wasabe Seafood Pizza

Check it out, looks different eh? It kinda reminds me of Ramly burgers, lots of sauce goes on top of it. I won't say it taste super, just that it's rather .... different for a pizza. Its got a unique style, a Japanese touch to it. Heh ... unlike western pizzas which comes with loads of cheese, this one comes with loads of other weird sauces.

Yeah i'd reccommend it, go try it at least once. Hehz, i still like cheese though.

**********

Lastly!!! 2 days ago my Aunt suddenlly got this immense craving for crabs. She doesn't really believe in crab-sticks, and so guess where we went for dinner that nite. Here's some hints! Scroll down slowly and take in the pictures!

Fresh Mussels? Check out their tongues, bleeaah~~

Everyone has seen half of a crayfish before, on menus or on your main courses. Not many has seen what they look like before being halved though ... here's their "before" picture, smiling for the camera.

Counch Shell Abalones, cousins to the sea coconuts

GeoDucks, yeah it's a pokemon.

Lobsters!

Alaskan King Crab!!

Dig???

Long Beach Seafood Restaurant!

Despite their spiky appearance and menancing claws, these "Air Flown Live Alaskan King Crabs" are actually one of nature's gentlest creatures...

That's a joke.

But they're definately one of nature's yummiest items to savour on your taste buds!

It's been quite some time since i last had chilli crab, haha. I missed the sweet/spicy sauce that goes soooooo well with fried Man Tou. We also ordered black pepper crab, fried soon hock and some other dishes. I didn't bother to take any pictures of the dishes though ... coz my hands are dirty from fiddling with the crab meat.

Where do you go if you're craving for a nice Japanese buffet spread?

If your answer to the above question is "Sakae Sushi" or "Genki Sushi", you seriously need a life.

Or if you think that NTUC Cold Storage is the best place, you can use a good psychiatrist.

Before i reveal my choice of restaurant, do scroll down slowly and take in the pictures. Just think of this wonderful deal ... all these glorious food, all these variety ... all at one place for one price! True, given their taste doesn't exactly match up to those super exquisite Japanese restaurants that sells sushi for $10 a piece ... but unlimited quantities of these goodies for just $35 is simply a steal. Plus, it really taste good, not super, but just good.

What's the first thing that comes to mind when you talk about Jap food? Sushi and Sashimi! Check out the spread!!

Or how about some tepanyaki??

Here's a promotional iteam, sweet BBQ crayfish! This tastes like heaven!

Udon anyone? These comes in many different toppings and are contained in very small mini-claypots, so you don't have to worry about not finishing your noodles!

Glorious Tempura!! Get all of these on your taste buds !

Nabe!! That's japanese for paper steamboat. A popular delicacy, die-die-must-try! Did i mention it's free flow?

Had Enough? Im not done yet!! Free flow Snow Crabs for everyone! And hell, it doesn't taste anywhere near crabsticks.

A foodie's rule of thumb: Never finish a meal without dessert, so here's what they've got to offer! It taste as good as it looks, and there's ice cream too!

Here's where it's at. Suntec Tower Level 3!! Right beside the entrance to Sky Garden ... the place is called Kuishinbo. All Japanese food lovers looking for a good spread at a good price, fall in there fast!

Bon Appetit!

Jewelled Fragments in Time

And thus, Time itself imploded ... sending fragments of history all over its passage. Heroes of different planes and eras are picked up and gathered on post-apocalyptic Dominaria. Spellcasters once forgotten re-emerged, and lich lords once slain are resurrected. The ruins of the Tolarian Academy has been revisited, and ancient artifacts revealed their secrets once more.

In particular ... the disruptions in time brought back one brilliant artificer long ago slain for his dark aspirations....

We've been trespassing his factory a countless number of times without ever bumping into him. Finally, here he is in his full glory!

Mishra ...

the Bane of Argoth, possesor of the Meek Stone, and the Brother of Urza.

******

Troubles in the time rift brought back a legendary race who was destroyed when Urza folded their plane of existence. The daugthers of Serra returns with remarkably similar abilities the Angels have always been known for.

******

A legendary spellcaster shows her face, having been warped from her own era to the present. Many might not know her name, but her spells have been quite a favourite among the Red Mages.

Who do you think is the original caster of spells such as Incinerate, Pyroblast, Lava Burst, Inferno and Pyroclasm?

Here's the answer : Jaya Ballard, Task Mage

******

Well, though many might think that Wizards of the Coast have ran out of new ideas to actually come up with a concept which rummaged through their old ideas, Time Spiral is truely an expansion to look forward to. Thrulls, Goblins, Yavimaya elves, Keldon warriors, Krosan beasts alike have all been brought back into one place.

Further ... legendary cards such as those above have been created. The arsenal involves big names such as Teferi and Lim Dul the Necromancer. In addition, feared cards from ages back has been revived ... recall Living Death? How'd you like to put all the creature cards in your graveyeard into play, while getting your opponent to sacrifice all his creatures in a single turn? It's back, under the name Living End.

I'm thinking of making a comeback ...

I think.
